Yes I do that as well substituting the Gold tag for the back of a fag packet with my contact details written on it.
You are of course banking on someone having the sense to look for such a thing. Given I once had a bag sitting in MAD for nearly a month with the routing tag as well as ID tag still attached to the outside of the bag I have my doubts.
