We're traveling Lyons (LYS) - FRA - JFK with US Passports, and several large suitcases which will be checked.

Provided your incoming flight from LYS is not late. Your baggage can be checked through but 65 mins is rather tight for a connection to the US which requires document check and pasport control (but not security).
