Both the tags and the straps are too flimsy - shame on you, BA. I've followed the example of a business colleague, who has overcome the lack of robustness by, a) super-gluing two tags back-to-back (making for a much stiffer, thicker, tag) and, b) replacing the strap (with its next-to-useless buckle) with a short length of small diameter wire cable.
A status match to EY Gold last year resulted in receipt of some far more durable luggage tags; in a sort of leatherette material with a plastic window, with a far superior strap and buckle.
Along with the original Rimowa luggage tag on my cabin bag I am, apparently unlike others here, more than happy to flaunt them. I did buy two FlyerTalk tags some years ago, but they definitely looked OTT so I stopped using them.
