This is basically what WN does, they will take a loss on these route until the competition decides it just not worth it anymore. History has been on their side a few times in California now. I bet their average fare will be a bit higher going forward.
That's very true though. Historically the legacies have all been about LAX and SFO while WN dominates all the secondary airports OAK SJC ONT BUR SNA.
