You're crazy booking Jetstar, this could spoil your whole holiday. SQ(MI) have perfectly good flights where you will
- be comfortably reaccommodated in case of IRROPS and not left out in the cold
- be allowed to take sufficient carry-on for your valuables
- prepay/check all your luggage without ridiculous surcharges

Qantas (who own JetStar) are having a few problems at the moment, it's not unlike UA in the way everything is going to pieces.
