Leaving the airport you are only allowed to take an "airport taxi". Approximately like a ten seater minibus, driver in black uniform, wearing a cap. Probably about AED 80 to the Meridien as the meter starts at AED 25. (Ideal if you have a large family and lots of luggage). The taxi queue is well managed and moves pretty quickly.
On the way back to the airport you can get a normal taxi, approx AED 60.
