I've seen a few routes for J award space to Europe recently but in general, yes, AA has chosen to not release J award space to Europe. London used to be generally available but no longer. JFK to LHR used to be wide open but no longer. F class used to be wide open but no longer.

The situation is even worse to SCL which is a route I've watched for 20 years.

If you want to fly in Y on BA and pay the fees you can get anywhere. Also, it has become easy to get Y seats to Australia on QF.

I've used millions of miles over the years. I used over a million miles in just 2013 alone mostly on partner airlines. This year I'm finding it difficult to use any of my miles on AA metal to any location I'm interested in travelling to. Zero success so far.
