Have you tried calling the AC# in HK? In most countries it's just AC agents who take care of AE bookings on behalf of AE, so you'd end up talking to the same person anyway.
However, I seem to recall a report that the HK office isn't the best office to call about AE stuff. Have you tried calling the Australian number?
Australian office can't do it. (No AP number co called the AC number). Australian rep told me to call the Aeroplan general number... which is currently closed.
