You should have called your corporate travel agent, whom you paid a booking/ticketing fee, to complete the work he/she was paid to do as opposed to calling AA to do it for them.

This is actually one of the fees that AA charges that IMHO makes perfect sense as it covers AA for costs it should not have incurred in the first place.
