United has told me I can enroll in Mileage Plus and then call customer service to transfer earned mileage under Miles and More (I'm assuming not status mileage though). Miles and More tells me that's impossible.

Has anyone ever tried it? What would you recommend? Switch to United or stay with Miles and More?
You can try points.com but it is usually a bad deal. Just burn then and start with MP if you want to be with MP.
