Would prefer not to be caught out, but begrudge paying extra when I don't need to , by taking an on board bag.
BA used to have a value calculator to show that with the extras BA could often be cheaper, but I can't see a link to it anymore. That used to be an easy way to see the excess baggage fees of the other airlines.
When you fly BA how heavy is your bag usually? BA has amazingly generous baggage allowance. 23kg isn't bad, but silver and above 32kg x 2 is amazing. However, bmi used to be 20kg and I never went over even when I thought my bag was heavy. I still appreciate the piece of mind with BA never to worry.
BTW I believe with a flexi fare on easyJet they will always find a space for your hand luggage if it meets the maximum dimensions.
I found the
easyJet baggage page:
easyJet plus cardholders, FLEXI fare, easyJet plus Upfront or Extra Legroom customers, can continue to bring ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 56 x 45 x 25cm including handles and wheels – and use easyJet plus Speedy Boarding to board first in order to secure space in the overhead lockers.
