How early to arrive at station for a train that is running late?

As you can tell by my other thread, I'm a newbie to Amtrak. So this is probably a dumb question. But what time do you arrive at a station for a train that is projected to be late? Or very late?

I'll be riding #5 out of DEN. Over the past two weeks, this train has arrived no earlier than 2 hours late. (Arriving after 9AM, instead of 715am) If I track the progress of this train, and it is showing 2 hours delayed the night before, is it reasonable to show up 'somewhat' later? I understand that trains can make up time, but just how much time? What if the train was already running 6 hours late?

Tell me your thought process and how you track the train, i.e. what do I need to know?

Thanks.
