So had a bit of an equal rights moment today. I'm a plat, just dropped from SPG100 and a LTG.

Really pleased to find out that my SNA's cleared on Monday and checked into the Hotel Imperial in Vienna tonight. Lovely suite and welcome card, except that it said to Mr and Mrs Dave_C.

Well Mrs Dave_C is actually a Mr Dave_C and after 12 years together and 10 years of status, plus the fact that SPG even have a photo of me on file, I'm afraid I was a bit offended.

So walked down to the front desk and asked to speak with the manger. Was told that the on duty manager wasn't about but they would let them know tomorrow. I asked when the general manager was about and was told that wasn't until Monday. No problem, but I want them to call me too.

I made it very clear that I didn't want any compensation, just for them to change their procedures and recognise that LGBT guests exist too.

So got back into the lift to go back to the room and the guy in the elevator said to me "they did the same to me and my husband, thanks for saying something".

For me, that made the whole thing worth it.

Starwood, would appreciate some response as to how you advise hotels to address guests and their partners.
