To add insult to injury, this is the first time I've been a Diamond at this property; previously I've only been Platinum.
Every single time I've stayed here, I've had at least a partial ocean view.
Granted, I booked a Waikiki view. But when far more than 1/2 of the hotel has some semblance of an ocean view, and when the rooms are available on the website for booking, I'm quite surprised as a Diamond that none were offered.
I take that back, I was offered to pay $75 upcharge for an ocean view.
So here I sit, looking at the Hilton Waikiki and the Hyatt Place.
The Regency Club is nice, and they put out a pretty decent spread for a U.S. hotel. It's still no Tsim Sha Tsui RC, but I'd never expect that.
I'm looking forward to talking with the manager tomorrow to see about a room change, because I've stayed here dozens of times (that's no exaggeration), and I've actually wrote a few emails to the GM complimenting him on his staff, but this has been the worst stay here by far.
I've had this happen to me enough as a Diamond that I won't stay there anymore. Last time I showed the desk clerk the number of ocean view and oceanfront rooms for sale on the Hyatt website yet they refused to book me into any of them, giving me a room looking into the adjacent tower, albeit on on the "Club Floor." Frankly, I just got fed up with the games the front desk plays.
