It makes economic sense since for every 100 economy passengers there is a theoretical saving of 1 metric tonne in takeoff weight. This could profitably be used for extra freight or for saving fuel.
This theory is based on the assumption that all 100 pax do take maximum allowance which I assume is wrong.
Nonetheless, I don't know the answer to your question.
