[Information For Normal Passports]
Passport required.
- Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid
  on arrival.

Visa required, except for Holders of Person of Indian Origin
(PIO) Card. 
Additional Information:
- Indian law does not permit dual nationality for nationals of

- Holders of an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration
  certificate (booklet) are advised to carry the OCI, even
  though they are issued with a "U" type visa.

- Indian visa stickers have no seal/signature from the issuing
  authority. 
- Nationals of USA being of Pakistani origin holding multiple
  entry Tourist Visas (type T), with a validity ranging from
  above 3 months and up to 10 years, are required to have at
  least 60 days between visits. (SEE NOTE 54918) 
    NOTE 54918: Those wishing to re-enter before the 60 days
   have expired must contact an Indian mission abroad to

- Visa extensions possible, except for "T" (tourist) visas and
  Transit visas, by applying at the Ministry of Foreign
  Affairs.
- Valid visas in expired passports are still acceptable,
  provided accompanied by a valid passport of the same
  nationality of the expired passport.
- Holders of visas that specifically state the city/airport of
  entry must enter India at the specified city/airport.  
- Nationals of USA, belonging to a Tourist Group

- Restricted/Protected Area Permits: A permit is required for
  foreigners wishing to visit the following:

Passengers arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting
countries with risk of yellow fever transmission [[TIRGL/YFIN]]
and not holding a yellow fever vaccination certificate are
subject to quarantine for 6 days. Quarantine facilities are
only available at Delhi (DEL), Chennai (MAA) and Mumbai (BOM).
At other airports passengers will be deported.

Exempt from Yellow Fever vaccination:
- Children under 9 months of age. 
- Passengers transiting countries with risk of yellow fever
  transmission provided not leaving the transit areas.
Recommended:
- Malaria prophylaxis. Malaria risk exists throughout the year
  in the whole country below 2000 m. (with 40% to 50% of cases
  due to P. falciparum). There is no transmission in parts of
  the states of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and
  Sikkim. Highly chloroquine and
  sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine-resistant P. falciparum reported.
  Recommended prevention in risk areas: III or IV.
