I use a wheelchair, travel in paid F domestically, J (and occasionally F) internationally, and keep my carry-ons light, since they are going to be on my lap or hanging from the back of my wheelchair (if possible) as I am wheeled through airports. No one wants a 20-something lb. carry-on on their lap for any length of time on their lap, believe me! At 4'11", 80 something lbs., and traveling with my own wheelchair, I consider the packing of my carry-on carefully, and never make it difficult for others to put into the overhead.
