Thank you! This part is exactly what I am curious about. It seems the usual scenario is the originating city protecting additional flights out of a connecting hub. So, as a passenger, I would want my ticket to be attached to the original flight and if I miss my original connection, have someone resync my ticket with the protected connection.
How often/fast does the "cancel robot" does its job and cancels all the onward segments?
Also, not directly related to protection but there was a discussion in another thread... if I start with another airline (in that case, it was EI) and no-show on them and just show up for my UA connection, does SHARES know I had a no-show on EI?
