If America and the England are two countries "divided by a common language", they (and here I include Europe more generally on the "England" side of the equation) are even more deeply divided by what constitutes an adequately civilized amount of ice in one's drink. Personally, I have to admit that Europe's elegantly understated view of the matter doesn't really cut it for me any more -- I lean towards the American "too much is never enough" perspective, and am forever embarrassing myself when in Europe with "Please, sir, I want some more."
To each, his own, I suppose........
