Upon arrival in hkg, the reps there provided him a new boarding pass from hkg to sfo leaving at 1230 am on the 14th of may and arriving in sfo 10 pm, may 13th. He was also given a boarding pass from sfo-yvr for 7am flight on air canada the following day.

Nothing else was provided. I feel they mistreated my father (who is 75 years old) due to the following reasons:

1) he was in HKG intl for over 7 hours waiting for his flight to SFO with no vouchers, etc (but he was able to eat at the business class lounge as his ticket is PAID J)

2) CX rerouted him to sfo when there was another direct flight to yvr later that day (cx 888 with 3 vacant J seats - i checked)

3) upon his arrival in sfo on may 13 @ 10pm, he was not given a hotel voucher or a place to stay nor any meal vouchers and he had to sleep in the aiport until his departure to vancouver at 7 am the following day.

I thought cx takes good care of their passengers when flights are delayed due to mechanical reasons, and i would hope they would give better treatment towards a passenger on paid business class.

Really need your advice and input. No meal voucher in sfo, no hotel vouchers, nothing...instead they forced my 75 yo dad to take the longest route possible to vancouver when there were vacant j seats on a later cx direct flight to vancouver. My dad was very exhausted and fell ill after his outbound flight as he was in the plane/airport for over 36 hours with no proper sleep and no compensation whatsoever...
just curious - what did you do/what did you tell your dad do when you found there was 3 seats on a later flight?

anyways, compensation is due. for at least the price of the plane ticket (and if you have your inbound... the compensation is FOR the inconvenience, not a refund). they made a J flight more stressful than a Y flight. IMHO anyways, YMMV and some may think you eventually arrived so it's ok
