My impression is that any official ID would do, i.e. laminated or printed on plastic, with photo and signature. An US driver's licence is very unlikely to be refused. We Norwegians usually have a checking card ID on the back of a BankAxept card. This is accepted everywhere as ID for us, so anything similar should be good.

The express long-distance buses usually take cards, it's the local ones that usually don't.
