But the same principle that applied back then applies now, just differently. Your'e getting a benefit as part of your employment, and to receive this benefit you agree to certain rules of conduct that don't apply to paying customers. These rules of conduct today are probably much more lax than they used to be, which is a reflection of the change in culture in general (you mentioned the dress code for example). Your analogies to the segregation etc. are over the top.
The rosa Parks analogy was OTT. mLK would be much more appropriate.
