Just had a three day stay at this hotel...

Location and Getting Around:

This hotel is just outside the inner core of the city but is till within the inner zone of the public transport. As a result a couple can travel all day (till 6am the next morning) on U-Bahn (underground train system), trams, and busses within the city for Euro 11.50 (you can buy a ticket from the Concierge at the Westin. Arabela Park U-Bahn station is about a block and a half walk from the Westin... walk out the front of the hotel, go straight, pass the side Sheraton on your right continue until you see a small shopping center on your left and follow the "U" signs for U-Bahn to a down escalator to your right ....through an open walkway at the end of the shopping center. Its the end of the line so you cannot go wrong.

Once you get down town its often most convenient to get around by tram. The trams run quite frequently in my experience often every 5 to ten minutes. The tram routes are marked on a map than you can get from the hotel. The only confusing thing is where to catch the trams. Look for blue colored shelters with a roof. A sign will tell you what trams use this stop. Often an electric sign in red will show when next tram is expected.

Upgrade:

Was upgraded to a Club room on the 19th floor (asked about a Suite but was told none were available). The room was fairly small but very nicely furnished and fitted out in rich wood finishes. Everything seems quite new. The bathroom was small but not uncomfortably small and contained both a bath and a stand-alone shower. We chose a room facing away from the city (and the main road in front of the hotel) and our room was very quite.

The Club:

This hotel has one of the most interesting clubs I have seen. Vaulted ceiling two floors high, great panoramic view of the city. The staff is very attentive and helpful.

There was a Concierge manning a desk every time we popped in and generally at least one other staff person during off hours and two or three at evening snacks time and breakfast. They have an excellent espresso machine and a large selection of cold drinks available during the day. There also seemed to be 3 or so types of beer and a number of wine choices.

In the afternoon they have some cakes that I thought were excellent. For example on e day they had large bits of pear inside a chocolate cake and an apple crumble slice.

Diner snacks were generally very tasty. They varied from night to night. Our first night they had a vegetarian Indian rice dish, Indian bread, and chicken Tika Masala. The next night they had Nasi Goring and a Chicken and vegetable soup.

Hot breakfast choices in the club were: scrambled eggs, bacon, small sausages, and baked beans in tomato sauce. In addition there were: fruit salads, cut fruits, bowl of uncut fruits, pastries, breads, bread rolls, cold cereals, Bircher muesli, 3 or 4 types of yogurts, cold cuts, sliced cheeses, cheese board....
