Location: In a hotel somewhere trying to repack everything I brought (and bought) in to a carry-on smaller than my last one.

Unless you're planning on checking this bag or your travel method/activities include riding on top of buses and the tops of trains the recycled fabric seems ok for a carry-on bag.
