If I book/reserve a hotel through BA.com but don't pay for it up front would I still receive the 3 Avios per £ rate or just the normal 1.5 per £ rate on my payment at the hotel? Would the travel insurance be applicable in this case too?
I've been assigned to a project in Munich and whilst we are not able to book our flights directly we are expected to book and pay for our hotels so I'm trying to maximise my Avios haul as much as possible!
If you are billed by the hotel, it won't be a BA transaction so they'll be no bonus. I would be inclined to book on the hotel's site to ensure their loyalty credit.
There is no travel insurance on the BAPP card, only travel inconvenience cover related to the travel (flights/other) not to hotel stays, and this won't cover you if the flights aren't on the card. There no medical or cancellation cover but presumably you have corporate cover and if you are paying the hotel direct it would be flexible.
