If the passport isn't close to expiration she can get a name change which in the US is put in the addendum page. Then she can be Ms. Smith or Mrs. Golfer depending on whether she shows the addendum page.
Mrs. Puddinhead used her passport as ID for 2 years until she got everything changed.
