Hmm well I've been playing around with different routes for several weeks and they all give me the same pricing. It was confirmed online as a valid route for 57,500. Not just yesterday, but for the past few weeks.

Here's another interesting thing to add. I changed my dates and it reimbursed me 7,500 miles, meaning it priced out to 50k miles! I purchased the tickets under two separate MP accounts (mine & my husband's account) and his priced out at 50K as well!

I agree it's currently priced as two one-ways with an illegal stopover in Europe. Your most likely reprices would be either as a 90,000 mile roundtrip (Central America-SE Asia, except I'm not sure they'll let you do that SJO/BKK OJ) or 102,500 miles for three one-ways.

Paris sucks in August anyway.

Edited to add: The proper way to book this would be a one-way SJO-IAH, then a RT North America - SE Asia with the stopover in Europe. That would be 97,500 miles, but you wouldn't need to burn AA miles for a separate return from BKK to the US. You still might run into difficult booking the OJ at the Europe stopover, but it is technically legal.
