You must book your flights as a thru flight from ORD to CGK and allow CX's computer to choose the connecting flights for you - even if you booked thru AA's system.
That is the slight problem with Amadeus. If you try to book the CGK sector first, you *might* be able to get the ORD-HKG sector. But to do that you must start afresh and not even pull up the previous booking you had done with AA. After this booking, then go back to the other booking to cancel.
