Well, that's probably what CX thought, when they announced the route with this flying times.
I can only compare LX178 to SIN with SQ346 to SIN.
LX178 being the night flight (departs after 10pm, arrives after 4pm), while SQ346 being the "day" flight (departs after lunch, arrives around 7am in SIN, ie just after midnight swiss time)
On LX178, I could always sleep great, no matter if Economy or Business. No jetlag at all usually.
On SQ346, I couldn't fall asleep, just shortly before landing in SIN got tired. Then had a horrible day forcing myself not to sleep but couldn't be productive at all, and jetlag for days..
So, at least for me, LX won my business to SIN because of sheer better flying times.
Certainly not because of the product.
And yes, I do feel that the product of SQ, especially in C and Y, is better than that of CX. I don't fly F on them to compare. And I doubt the F product will decide which airline will fly the route more successful. Having Premium Economy might help CX.. (and yes, CX product in Y is probably better than LX, too, not sure about the C product)
