Reading through the thread, it seems people write more positively about the Renaissance as it is a newer hotel. Parking fees of $19 vs. $26 probably just an added fee with the hotels being located outside DC, but I guess it prevents local commuters using their parking lots as a park/ride lot for the metro.
Room will definitely be nicer at the Renaissance. However, the Key Bridge Marriott has a metro stop near it, whereas you have to use the shuttle from the Renaissance. Key Bridge is also walkable to Georgetown over the bridge -- which has no metro stops. Meters near Key Bridge are not operable from 6 PM nightly to 8 AM the next day and from 6 PM Saturday to 8 AM Monday. Meters in DC are operable until 10 PM all nights but after 10 PM Saturday you don't need to feed it until Monday morning.
You might want to consider the RI Bethesda for your CAT 5 cert(s) as the public parking lot near it is free on weekends and there is a metro stop a 5 min walk away.
