I forgot... does Australia arrival pre-clear immigration and customs? If not, it will take you anywhere between 1 to 2 hours to do that.

You can catch a taxi to Griffith Park observatory for views of Hollywood sign. It's kind of a difficult landmark to see up close. I think Griffith Park is probably your best bet. From Griffith Park, you can take another taxi to Disney Concert Hall. This one will probably take about 20 to 30 minutes.

From Disney Concert Hall back to LAX, you have some options. You can jog down the hill (via Grand Park) to catch the subway at Civic Center Station to Union Station and take the FlyAway bus back to LAX. It will drop you off at the terminals - this should take about 1 hour in total if you time it right for FlyAway departure, and up to 90 minutes if you just happen to miss the FlyAway and have to wait for the next one. Or you can take another taxi, which can take about anywhere between 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on what time and traffic condition.
