I think the magic word you're looking for is "protection". I've called the Premier line and had them protect me on a later flight when there's a delay brewing. But GA's can be hit and miss.
This. I simply call the Premier Desk when I know a delay is arising. The GA is not as interested in onward connections (even when valid) as we think they should be. That is partially due to what
channa notes below, but I see people bother the GA with the craziest concerns.
