I don't know but maybe the above post has some of the answers. Food for thought.
All the Asian carriers I've flown are way more efficient at boarding. The pax just don't seem to spend as much time in the aisle. My conclusion is that a high percentage of American travelers are lame. Completely oblivious to the fact they are holding up 100 pax behind them while they leisurely mess around with the overhead.
That said, I have had a large number of UA flights lately where they board extremely fast . . . I walk up at T-25, the gate is completely empty, and they're making last call.
