Got to the little two runway airport at ACV a little early today, and as I was turning in my rental car paperwork a lady was running around asking at rental counters "Where are the United check in people!?!?!?"

As I walked by the empty UAX counter a few minutes later, one of the moonlighting deputy sheriffs walked out and said to her (with a completely straight face) "Well, ma'am, your luggage is in Guatemala...."

The poor lady's face fell, and she looked mildly distraught before he relented and said "No, actually it's not in Guatemala, but right now they don't know where it's at." She seemed a relieved, although I'm not sure whether it might not be better to know where it is, even if far away, rather than not to know it's whereabouts.

I suspect it will get here on the next puddle jumper.

Now, hopefully I get the VDB they offered at the checkin kiosk.
