Regardless of what the outcome here is, BA certainly can only really reduce shorthaul rotations to allow expansion of longhaul or purchase slots from other airlines.
In my opinion it results in BA shorthaul expansion coming at LGW where it's easier to gain slots, not peek hours but better use of a fleet of aircraft operating routes either into the night as they currently do or all night.
If LGW gets a second runway and LHR doesn't get a third we might well see some interesting times ahead.
