HI and HIE are preferred hotels for my company for meetings and based on the places I travel a preferred hotel for me (not many Marriots or Hiltons in small midwestern towns). My wife's travel is usually to larger cities without much consistency in where they stay, in other words it may take a while to amass points anywhere. On occasion she stays at an ICH property, will there be any issues with her using my number so that we get the points and she gets any possible Platinum benefits? We use an ICH Master Card for travel so points add up quickly.
In general, if you and your spouse travel regularly, what do you do in regards to frequent traveler programs, obviously you can't share airline accounts but what about hotel and rental car programs.

Not allowed by IHG t+c's, when IHG spots this type of activity (account fraud in their eyes) the account is cancelled and accumulated IHG points, award bookings are forfeited. IHG are aware people will try to share accounts this way so will have some controls/checks in place.
1. Benefits of IHG Platinum are only conferred if account owner occupies room. so should not apply to wife, family, friends etc.
2. Points and bonuses do not apply unless account owner occupies room. so you should not earn points or qual nights if your partner stays on your account.
With same surname it is harder for IHG to pick up, but earlier this year several accounts were cancelled for things like one partner staying on others account.
