I have a EWR-YUL-XXX-XXX tkt I grabbed what I could when I booked it and that meant a 5 hr layover @ YUL for my late June trip. Ive been checking on a reg basis and bingo today I was able to grab an AC flight 3 hrs later out of EWR and likewise was able to grab an earlier AC flight for my return as well YUL-EWR

When I tkted my itin late March nothing was available on AC. So you may not see anything pop up now (I would still keep checking) but most likely as it gets closer to late Sept-Oct you probably will.
