This is what's been successfully for me. Visit flights.google.com and use their search engine. Besides doing regular and multi-city searches, you can simply fill in you departure city and date, and see the price to fly to various destinations. Restrict the search to *A (that's a option). When you find the flights you like, you can usually click "book on united.com". It will populate united.com with the chosen itinerary.
Thanks for that link. I'll give it a look.
I do know that I can connect at EWR or IAD. Problem is the flight times. Due to scheduling, I need to fly in the evening across the pond. The flights out of ORD to MUC, CDG, FRA typically leave at the right times.
