The Sofitel is a fab hotel. I stayed there several times and felt well looked after every time. The Novotel is in the middle of the Times Square hustle and bustle (I'm not a fan) and also feels much busier on the inside.

The Novotel redesign has been funky and modern while the Sofitel style oozes luxury. If the price is the same go for the Sofitel IMHO.
