Sixt CLT (Charlotte Airport)

I did not find an existing thread on this location so figured I would start one since I have a current rental out through them.

This is an off-airport small franchised location operated by East Coast Rent-A-Car in Greenville, SC. It is located in an obscure industrial park behind a Bojangles. The signage is terrible, so I drove in circles a few times before finally locating it, despite having the correct address. Staff here is extremely friendly.

The car offerings here are more akin to Enterprise rather than the traditional Sixt offerings (for the US). Base model Nissans are the most common in all categories with two or three other cars thrown in.

The branch manager stated that they may be acquiring a couple of Mercedes, but it is not probable anytime soon.

Interestingly enough, most of their cars (perhaps all? I don't recall seeing a plated vehicle off the top of my head) have temporary tags on them.

I had booked an ICAR per the suggestion of the branch manager since this location very rarely has PCARs (base Nissan Maxima) on hand and was upgraded to FCAR per my Platinum status. I was given the option of a Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, or one of two different Mazda 5's. I choose the Nissan Altima which has a temp tag that expires in July. Imagine my surprise when I started the car up to learn that it has 43,000 miles on it !!! However it is clean, well maintained, and drives like new, so the mileage isn't too much of a concern.

If paying by credit card, this location does not charge a deposit and only authorizes the amount of the rental. If you pay by debit card, they require a deposit of $250 above the rental amount.

In summary, if you're looking for a no frills rental and the price is right (i.e. $19.60/day), then this is a decent option out of CLT, but do not expect anything special or the usual Sixt US experience.
