You are wrong (which is a good thing). If the "overwater" portion (i.e. the one in BusinessFirst) does not clear, everything is refunded, and you get a "free" upgrade for the domestic portion (the one in First).

As an aside, it kills me that Coupon Connection is closed. A GPU would've saved all those miles and money.
