BA JFK acquired a new station manager a while back, and it seems that since then lot has changed for the worse. Obviously the new one is someone trying to change things for changes sake so they get noticed, rather than running with what the pax have liked.
It is also noticeable how much the ground staff seem to have soured consistently under the new regime, while the older guy on the Concorde room some evenings seems to have managed to be both more obsequious but also more aloof. I suspect JFK probably just sees too many premium pax, so has lost sight of how valuable they are.
At this same time as the new manager arrived it seems that 'fast' track became and remains nothing of the sort. Even the ghastly AA terminal (utter mess) is now quicker most days. Particularly bad are mornings when fast track seems to have every Y pax on the BA180 and 178 in the queue when they check in Y on the CW counters at times. Maybe BA is warming us up so a move in with AA does nt seem so bad. Given AA is now run by the same management who turned US Airways into a distress purchase airline product, perhaps there's something in this
Last month's BA178 took 25 mins just for me to get through 'fast track' security. Even Heathrow could better that, and that's a really low bar to match.
Anyway, when all is said and done it is much easier to vote with one's feet (who cares about a few marginal avios or TP on jfk-lhr hop). We've just switched flying to Virgin's 0740 departure instead until BA sort this out. Feels like it might be a while as the combined DL/VS schedule is good.
No doubt the easier thing would be for BA to enforce the fast track queue entitlements - right now no one does so so it s free for all. Not holding my breath for something as radical as that, though.
