So basically they said it's my fault for requesting an upgraded room even though it said if was free because certificates are only for standard rooms. I told them this is unfair because I had no way of knowing this until 3 months later and I am out 125k points and my 2 certificates. They offered me 2 free nights at a HGI which I do not want because that is not comparable to the citi certificates. They also offered 80k points instead as a courtesy. I am going to call citi to see if there is anything they can do on their end. Honestly im ready to never stay at a Hilton again. I am being penalized for their mistake and non disclosure and they are trying to give me lowball offers. They said there is no way they can issue a certificate that can be used anywhere. They basically said it's an issue with the hotel and citi and I am to blame for requesting a free upgrade. I told them if they had immediately used my points instead of certificates I could have realized what happened and corrected it. Instead they waited 3 months before I knew they didn't use the certificates and they have since expired.
