I didn't know anything about this. I followed the link, and discovered I'm set for miles instead of breakfast. Still I've stayed several dozen nights on award points in the last two years, and have always gotten breakfast.

I just had a couple award stays, 2 nights at a Doubletree, and 2 nights at a HGI. I see my account has already been credited 1,750 "bonus points" for the DT, and 750 bonus points "pending" for the HGI. We had a full breakfast (inc made to order omelettes) at both locations. To make it even more ironic, the DT award was made with Carlson points, since the DT changed from a Radisson to a DT after I made my reservation. So, yeah, free breakfast and 1,750 bonus points for a Carlson award.

Based on the above, I'm inclined to keep My Preferences set to miles, and hope to get both miles and breakfast in the future. But we have 3 weeks of award stays booked in Europe this summer, and much prefer breakfast to miles if I have to make a choice.
