A more recent TR

As there are no recent TR on this property I will give my two pence:

I stayed here for a couple of nights recently for business purposes at the Fiera Milano Congressi. I have mixed feelings about the hotel and I will not likely return soon. I rather choose the Hilton near the CS for my next stays.

I would like to split it up in the good, the average, the bad, and the ugly:

Good
- Spacious rooms that still look like new with good bed, clean bathroom and good house cleaning
- Free breakfast as Diamond (they asked everybody's room number at breakfast but never made notes or looked up the rooms, either they don't care or everybody gets free breakfast)
- Complementary bottles of mineral water (both flat and sparkling) was replenished every day (I am unsure whether this was a Gold/Diamond benefit)
- Very friendly and educated morning driver of the shuttle (see below) from Egyptian origin
- Great restaurant for dinner (The Glass bar & restaurant): good tasty Italian food and very nice waiters, fast service
- Waiters at breakfast were very considerate, the maitre d' even remembered my room number

Average
- Breakfast was average: sliced bread with can be toasted, many types of croissants, no regular small breads though, enough cheese and ham to choose from, many hot foods to choose from, different types of yoghurts, various pastries, fresh orange juice. One can order coffee (whichever type one wishes) which is made fresh at the bar.

Bad
- No true room upgrade to a suite (even with availability on the website), somewhat upgraded to a corner room. The whole 5th floor seems to be dedicated to HHonors members ('HHonors floor').
- In the welcoming letter a complementary weekday newspaper is mentioned. It was not asked at check in. I did not bother to ask for it.
- Slow wifi connection: too slow to even stream a 2 minute YouTube video
- No 24/7 manager availability
- Prices for the hotel can be rather high at some periods (>190 euro) where 100-150 euro seems about right for this hotel.

Ugly
- The neighborhood: apart from it being outside of the centre, the street is rather dilapidated and low class with some torn down buildings and old industry buildings next door, I even saw a couple of prostitutes on the street when waiting outside for my taxi (see earlier post by someone else). I would not walk around there after dark.
- The free shuttle to the Milano Congressi: one has to preorder the shuttle for both the in- and outbound trip. One is dropped off and picked up at a dodgy, far off location at the MiCo and has to walk to the true entrance for about 10 minutes. Once I ordered the shuttle and even though being at the spot early, after two phone calls I eventually had to wait for about 45 minutes to be picked up. Apologies were rather faint. Coming back from the MiCo I would advise not to use the shuttle service.

All in all, a mixed bag. The last two tip my opinion to not coming back here again.
