Apparently while I was out getting my chest ripped open the airlines decided to gut (pun intended) the FF programs drastically.

So, because of the changes, I think I'm going to change tactics and instead of spending loads of time getting status and having loyalty I'll just book the best business/first deals out there on whichever airline's the cheapest, which theoretically gives me all the perks I used to have when I had status except the extra (and now devalued) miles.

Anyhow, now that I'm FINALLY clear to fly long-haul. I've got a buddy's wedding coming up in Jul near TPE and a friend and I want to go. My friend can't exactly afford business, so we might both wind up on CX premium economy, or I won't be on the same flight (or class) as him (which would be sorta joe).

However, before I just go booking myself solo on a standard J ticket and stuff him in with the cattle, I figured I'd pop on here and see if anyone knew of any active bogo/companion promos running to Asia? That way I could split the costs with him (he's got about $2200 to spend on airfare, I have ~$4K). I see the QR J Bogo, but it doesn't apply to my itin.

I've been cruising the 'net (and FT) for a day or so but I don't see anything else other than the standard AMEX Plat Companion "Deal" which makes it about $4K/pp (more than just booking discount J published prices). Also, I don't have an Amex Plat right now.

If I can get 2 J/F tix for ~$5500-$6200 (or less) I'll eat his difference and we'll both fly with style. I honestly don't care the airline, what I'm hoping for is lie-flat, lounge access, and ideally, a 777.
