I'm curious to hear the answer/comments on this. I've got an upcoming trip JFK-LAX on AA, 13 hour layover, then LAX-HKG on CX, 13 hour layover, and then HKG-DEL on CX. The JFK-LAX-HKG flights are all on one ticket/reservation, and then HKG-DEL is a second one. While I clearly have time to get my luggage in HKG, do I have to collect my bags if I leave the airport in Hong Kong? And then as to the question oats603 has above, if I just stay in the airport and transfer, will I be able to check them all the way to DEL from JFK or do I have to claim and re-check? I'm hoping because the flight out of HKG is also on CX that might help my cause.
