1) Is there a left luggage facility at BOM?
2) Is it easy enough to get from Domestic to Terminal 2 and leave luggage there
3) Is it better to leave at Domestic and pick up again at midnight and go to Terminal 2
4) Any suggestions for 8 hours in Mumbai (between 15:00 and being back at airport at midnight). We will have spent 24 hours there a week previously.

1) Though I've never used it, apparently there is.
http://www.csia.in/atcsia/left-luggage.aspx has the information but the website is down now. It describes a service where you pay a fee for the luggage to not only be stored but also transferred from the domestic terminal to the "left luggage" at the int'l terminal.
2) You cannot enter a terminal earlier than three hours before your flight departs, so this makes the proposition quite difficult.
3) The same problem as 2) applies here - you could not return into the domestic terminal if you didn't have a flight departing from there.
4) I would personally get a day room at one of the nearby hotels. If you've seen all the sights down south, I don't think it would be worth going all the way down there and back - it's not impossible that you'd end up spending 3-4 hours in traffic!
