You can get SPG gold and Hyatt Platinum with a credit card. If you have the American Express Platinum that will give you SPG gold. The Hyatt credit card will give you Hyatt Platinum and the credit card is a good deal for the first year-you get two free nights and then on your anniversary you get a free night every year with no minimum spend. Hyatt has changed their categories for free nights, so the certs aren't as good of a deal as in the past, but there are still good properties you can use them at such as the Chicago Hyatt Regency.
Hyatt Plat and SPG gold won't give you breakfast (although my wife has had luck a couple times as a Hyatt Platinum getting a club room which gives her lounge access by asking at check in and with the Delta crossover program I have received lounge access by asking a couple times), but you do get free wifi and a 2 p.m. checkout with Hyatt.
You mentioned Delta. Will you fly enough for Platinum in 2015? If so, the crossover benefit is great and almost as good as gold. I have gotten some suite upgrades and club access by asking (wouldn't expect it though), and 4 p.m. checkouts with that benefit.
