I practically lived at the Westin, 2006-2011. Still visit four weeks a year.

I'm not a really discerning hotel guest - design and minor things escape me. So I'm happy at the Westin.

The renovation transformed the rooms, improved the fitness center and really didn't touch much else. You really won't recognize the room decor; the really dated feeling is nearly gone. The hallways and such - at my last visit - were pretty much the same, as was the lobby. The commercial floors (shops and restaurants) are unchanged, aside from being emptier - fewer businesses. Service has always been service-able and seldom any better than that.

The Sheraton always interests me a bit, but I really want/need a fitness center with long hours, so it's a non-starter. But the location is slightly better for catching public transit. Neither has a strong disadvantage with respect to restaurants or even shops (though the Sheraton is in a mall...that seems to be on life support). As I say, no first-hand experience to make a comparison.
